Ariel Performance Analysis System (APAS)

The Ariel Performance Analysis System (APAS) is a 3-D high-speed video motion analysis system developed by Ariel Dynamics for conducting biomechanical measurement and analysis. We have adapted the APAS for recording facial movements in speech and mastication at the Oral Dynamics Lab. Please visit this webpage for more information on other fields where APAS is used.

The Setup

The APAS consists of two Prosilica GE 1050 Cameras and a custom built Pentium 4 Systemax computer for data analysis. A special calibration cube is used to define the 3-D space in which we record the movements.
