First Ever “Spring Reunion” Social

Every year the University of Toronto throws a “Spring Reunion” event to welcome back thousands of alumni and celebrate the experiences, accomplishments, and friendships formed. The several-day event features dinners, socials, awards events, networking opportunities, and stimulating talks by leading intellectuals.

On Thursday May 29th, 2014, the Speech-Language Pathology Alumni Association hosted its first ever social mixer during the annual Spring Reunion week. Whether attending the other Spring Reunion festivities or not, graduates of the S-LP program were invited to reconnect and have some fun together. The event took place at the Black Swan Tavern on Danforth Avenue and was well-attended by current S-LP students, alumni from many graduating years, and their guests.

The evening began with a cocktail hour and refreshments, which guests enjoyed while mingling with old friends and making new connections. Eventually guests took their seats and enjoyed a hilarious performance by the improv comedy group “Bonspiel! Theatre”. The interactive skits featured scenes about the life of an S-LP, S-LP related lingo, and lots of references to thickened liquids. The audience members were often called upon to contribute and became the inspiration for the scene. Several students and alumni members even made it up onto the stage to become part of the show.

Stay tuned for information about next year’s alumni Spring Reunion mixer. We’d love to see even more alumni members come back and catch up!
