Welcome to the Voice and Resonance Laboratory at the University of Toronto

Lab

The Voice and Resonance Laboratory is part of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. Research in the Voice and Resonance Lab is dedicated to speech disorders that are related to structural defects or malformations of the vocal tract. In particular, we are interested in:

  • Speech disorders related to head and neck cancer

  • Speech disorders related to craniofacial syndromes such as cleft lip and palate

  • Speech disorders related to dentition and occlusion

  • Voice disorders

The laboratory is equipped with instrumentation for 2D and 3D ultrasound imaging, acoustic analysis, intelligibility assessment, electropalatography, nasalance measurement and airflow measurement as well as different kinds of digital and analogue recording equipment. The lab also contains a dental workspace for pseudopalate fabrication.

Please have a look around our website to learn more about the research and the people in the Voice and Resonance Lab.
